11.  [Conclusion](https://rm-syst.ru/en/blog/projects/skolko-stoit-sayt-dlya-biznesa#conclusion)

Ask five contractors how much a website costs and you will get five answers: RUB 15,000, 40,000, 120,000, 350,000 and “it depends on the task”. The interesting part is that they can all be right. Each is pricing something different: one assembles a page from ready-made blocks, another writes the copy and connects a CRM, and a third creates a custom design, online payments and an accounting system integration.

The useful question is therefore “what website does my business need now, and what does the price include?” Let’s go through it in order.

## The stage of your business comes first

A common mistake for a new business owner is ordering a large, beautiful website before knowing exactly what they sell and to whom. Three months later the offer changes, and the expensive website needs rebuilding.

A practical sequence looks like this:

- **You are still testing the niche.** A Yandex Maps and 2GIS listing, an advert on Avito or a specialist marketplace, and a simple page. The task is to test demand, not the design.
- **The first steady sales have appeared.** A landing page or small website: you now have real customer questions, case studies and prices.
- **You have several established services.** A multi-page website with a separate page for each service.
- **You have many products, but orders are discussed manually.** A catalogue without online payment.
- **The entire purchase happens online.** An online store with a basket, payments and delivery.
- **The business process itself is a software product.** Only at this point is development from scratch justified.

Part of the first step is free. You can add a company to Yandex Business for free and generate a simple responsive website from the listing data there. 2GIS also has a free account for managing company information.

At the start, a website usually **turns existing interest into trust**. Someone sees an advert or a Maps listing, or receives a recommendation, and checks who you are, what it costs, whether you have real work to show, business details and clear terms.

## Types of websites and what they cost

The figures below come from Russian marketplaces and industry rankings as of October 2026. They are a snapshot of specific offers and samples, rather than an average price for the whole market.

### A brochure website or landing page

**A brochure website** explains who you are, what you do and what it costs, and provides contact details. **A landing page** focuses on one offer and one action: send an enquiry, call or book. While your niche is changing, a landing page is easier to adapt: you can rewrite it without rebuilding dozens of pages.

Prices:

- **FL.ru** gives a starting point of RUB 30,000 for a landing page. However, a real project posted there in autumn 2026 offered RUB 15,000 and four days for a Tilda landing page with a mobile version and enquiries sent to a spreadsheet, Telegram and email.
- **Kwork:** WordPress landing pages in the sample examined cost around RUB 10,000–17,000.
- **Agencies:** according to Rating Runeta, the average promotional website cost in a sample of WordPress agencies was about RUB 48,800. A separate ranking of lower-cost studios put it at about RUB 154,600.

The threefold difference between the two rankings shows why “a website costs X on average” tells you little: the result depends on which companies were counted.

### A multi-page service website

This makes sense when your offer is established and different services need different explanations. Instead of a single “home renovation” page, you get pages for new-build renovation, existing homes, bathrooms, design projects, prices and examples. This also helps search: each need has its own page.

FL.ru suggests RUB 80,000–200,000 for a medium-sized website with a custom design. Rating Runeta puts the average corporate website at about RUB 83,200 for WordPress agencies and RUB 225,600 for lower-cost studios.

### A catalogue

It resembles a store, but the purchase ends with “Get a quote” or “Check availability” rather than online payment. It suits made-to-order furniture, equipment, building materials and B2B. There is no single average catalogue price. RUB 100,000–250,000 is a working allowance for a professional implementation, but this is an illustrative estimate, not a statistic.

### An online store

**A store adds things people often overlook:** a basket, checkout, delivery, payments, notifications, order statuses, receipts, returns, stock levels and product imports.

Kwork has WordPress store offers at RUB 28,000. Rating Runeta puts the average store at about RUB 80,700 for WordPress agencies and RUB 362,200 for lower-cost studios. A planning range for a first small store is RUB 80,000–400,000: the lower end means an existing platform and minimal customisation; the upper end means a custom design and integrations.

Until the product has been tested, your own store carries more risk than a landing page or marketplace sales: you are investing in both an unproven product and software.

### Development from scratch

This is justified when the process is genuinely unusual: a configurator, customer accounts, complex pricing or an online service. For scale, one Rating Runeta sample put the average “portals and services” project at about RUB 1.83 million. For a business still searching for its niche, this is the opposite of what it needs.

## What actually increases the price

Page count affects the price, but not directly. Five similar service pages can cost less than one complex calculator. The price increases with:

-   a custom design instead of ready-made blocks: prototyping, a designer and approvals;
-   each page with a unique structure;
-   a catalogue and filters;
-   CRM integration: fields, statuses and duplicates;
-   online booking: an external service, calendar and notifications;
-   online payments: a payment provider, refunds and possibly a cash register;
-   a chatbot;
-   SEO, copywriting, photographs and video;
- migrating an old website while keeping its URLs.

For an idea of the figures, FL.ru had offers of roughly RUB 5,000 for Telegram enquiry notifications, RUB 10,000 for payment integration and RUB 19,500 for CRM integration. A complex integration can cost several times more. On Profi, website copy was offered from RUB 300–400 per 1,000 characters and product photography in Moscow from RUB 1,700 an hour. These are the platforms’ starting prices, rather than the cost of a complete professional service.

## What a website costs after launch

Comparing only the build price is risky. A RUB 30,000 website can cost less over two years than a RUB 10,000 one if the latter requires expensive plugins or paid work for every change.

- **Tilda:** Personal costs RUB 6,000 a year with annual billing or RUB 750 a month with monthly billing. Business costs RUB 1,000 a month when billed annually and allows you to export the website’s code.
- **WordPress:** the system itself is free; you pay for hosting and work. For example, Timeweb’s annual hosting plan works out at RUB 316 a month.
- **Domain:** you are paying for a right of use that needs renewing. Check the renewal price, not just registration: in March 2026, REG.RU advertised .RU registration at RUB 226 and renewal at RUB 1,199.
- **Small changes:** FL.ru has tasks such as fixing errors for around RUB 2,990 and moving a website from RUB 3,900.

A simple Tilda website you edit yourself costs roughly RUB 7,000 a year plus the domain.

WordPress infrastructure is also inexpensive, but people and technical debt can be costly: updates, plugins, security and backups. Google described a case in which attackers injected hidden links and pages into a restaurant’s WordPress site, leaving the owner to clean it up and request another review. This means the website needs ongoing attention.

**1C-Bitrix** makes sense when 1C integration, advanced access permissions and complex integrations matter. For a business still choosing its niche, it provides many features you will not use, alongside substantially more expensive development and maintenance.

## Where expenses are hidden

Before signing a contract, check whether the price includes:

-   the domain, hosting and SSL;
-   the CMS licence, paid templates and plugins;
-   source files and the mobile version;
-   content upload and migration;
-   images and their licences;
-   forms, notifications, CRM integration, online booking and payments;
-   backups and protection;
-   analytics and personal data documents;
-   basic technical search setup;
- fixing errors after acceptance and training on how to use the website.

The most dangerous line in a quote is **“turnkey website” without an appendix spelling out what is included.**

## If your niche changes

My name is Roman Mikhaylov, and I build business websites at RM Systems. My main advice at the start is this: **the first version should be inexpensive to discard.** You should be comfortable rewriting it after twenty conversations with real customers.

An illustrative estimate of rework costs relative to the initial project:

-   a new offer within the existing framework: roughly 20–40%;
-   new copy, photographs and some blocks: 30–60%;
-   a completely different audience and structure: 60–100%;
- a service website becoming an online store: 80–150%.

This is a guide to understanding risk, rather than market statistics. Changing text in a website builder is cheap; changing a business model is not.

The domain matters too. If you start with something like “remont-vann-moskva”, meaning bathroom renovation in Moscow, and begin selling kitchens six months later, you must either keep an unsuitable domain or move. Migrating a website that already appears in search is a separate project involving redirects from old URLs. Until your niche is settled, a neutral brand domain is a better choice.

## What the law requires

This is not legal advice, but this section needs more attention than asking a developer to “add the standard checkbox”. The requirements below concern Russia.

- **Personal data.** As soon as the website collects a name, telephone number or email address, [personal data processing](https://rm-syst.ru/en/blog/projects/shtrafy-dlya-saytov-2026-chek-list) begins. Unless an exception applies, you need to notify Roskomnadzor through the operators’ portal before processing starts. The data processing policy must be published on the website under Article 18.1 of Federal Law No. 152-FZ.
- **Separate consent.** Since 1 September 2025, consent to personal data processing must be separate from other documents under Article 9. A line saying “by clicking Send you agree to everything” is insufficient.
- **Storage in Russia.** Since 1 July 2025, the initial collection and storage of Russian citizens’ data obtained online must use databases in Russia, subject to statutory exceptions. Check this before connecting a foreign CRM, form or analytics service.
- **Cookies and analytics.** Russian law does not universally require every website to display a European-style banner. However, Roskomnadzor has reported violations involving Yandex Metrica, social media pixels and cookies without a consent mechanism.
- **Not every website needs a public offer.** If you only collect enquiries and conclude the contract separately, a public offer is usually unnecessary. If customers order and pay for goods on the website, distance-selling rules apply under Article 26.1 of the Consumer Protection Law, alongside the updated Retail Sale Rules effective from 1 September 2026. When accepting payments, separately check cash register obligations under Federal Law No. 54-FZ.

For online stores, healthcare, finance, children’s services and complex integrations with foreign providers, involve a lawyer specialising in the relevant area.

## SEO: the cost and when to expect results

**Basic setup should be in place from the start**, even if you do not plan an SEO campaign: [correct headings](https://rm-syst.ru/en/blog/projects/chto-takoe-seo-bazovye-pravila), indexable pages, clear URLs, a sitemap, one primary domain version, a usable mobile version, webmaster tools and analytics. This is basic technical hygiene.

SEO campaign prices:

-   an audit on Kwork costs roughly RUB 4,000–6,000, or up to RUB 19,000 for a larger scope;
-   Kokoc’s overview gives RUB 35,000–120,000 a month for small businesses;
-   Pixel Plus has plans at around RUB 74,500–79,500 a month;
- Ashmanov & Partners has offers starting at RUB 100,000.

These are prices and estimates provided by the SEO companies themselves.

For timing, Russian agencies typically suggest 3–6 months before the first noticeable results and 9–12 months before assessing the return. Google states that nobody can guarantee first place in search results. Avoid building your financial plan around organic search enquiries during the first 3–6 months.

## Will the website pay for itself? Simple arithmetic

A hypothetical example, not a market forecast:

-   the website costs RUB 40,000;
-   upkeep is RUB 7,000 a year;
- each new customer leaves RUB 10,000 after direct costs.

The RUB 47,000 investment is then covered by roughly **five genuinely new customers** acquired through the website. If one in four qualified enquiries becomes a customer, you need about 20 enquiries.

Now consider SEO at RUB 60,000 a month. Six months costs RUB 360,000, so at the same RUB 10,000 per customer it must bring approximately **36 new customers** just to pay for itself. In a niche yielding RUB 100,000 per customer, that can be an excellent investment. At RUB 3,000 per customer, it makes little sense.

**Measure the whole chain:** where someone came from → whether they enquired → whether the enquiry was suitable → whether they bought → how much you earned.

## How to choose a contractor and keep control of your website

**The domain and all accounts belong to you.** Register the domain in your own name or your legal entity’s name, with the registrar account tied to your email. Set up the builder, hosting, analytics and CRM in your own accounts, then give the contractor access. Do not accept “we’ll register everything under our account; it’s easier”.

**Specify the rights in the contract.** Under Russian law, paying for the work does not always make everything yours. Civil Code Articles 1288, 1296 and 1297 address different situations: contracts with authors, commissioned work and works created while performing other tasks. Explicitly state that payment transfers exclusive rights to the code, design and copy created for the project. Ask the contractor to list what does not transfer: licensed fonts, stock photographs, paid plugins and ready-made templates.

**Compare the same scope.** Give every candidate one short brief: who the website is for, the action visitors should take, the pages required, where enquiries go, the integrations, revision rounds and exclusions. Otherwise one contractor prices only design and another includes design, copy and CRM, making the first appear half the price.

**Check live websites.** Open the contractor’s projects on your phone, send an enquiry through the form and ask exactly what they did on each project. Before a large contract, pay for a small stage such as a homepage prototype.

Red flags:

-   a guaranteed number one ranking in Yandex and Google;
-   the domain and hosting registered only to the contractor;
-   refusal to provide admin access;
-   a “turnkey website” without a detailed scope;
-   100% payment upfront without stages;
-   “SEO included” without a list of tasks;
- no answer on how to take the website with you if the relationship ends.

## Conclusion

Until your niche is proven, a sensible budget looks like this:

-   Yandex Business, 2GIS and a basic website generated from the listing: RUB 0;
-   a domain registered to you from the start;
-   the first landing page on a builder after testing demand: RUB 25,000–40,000 for the work;
-   Tilda Personal: RUB 6,000 a year;
- custom design, a complex CRM, an online store and a monthly SEO campaign: defer spending for now.

Move to a more expensive website when you can describe your audience, their needs, why they buy from you, what a customer costs and what you earn from one. At that point, a multi-page website, SEO and a catalogue become an investment you can measure.

**A website suited to your business, with only what you need at the start:** a landing page to test demand or a multi-page website for Yandex and Google search, with the domain and all access under your control, basic technical setup and enquiry analytics.
